Annual Scholars’ Conference on the Holocaust and the Churches
Thanks to the generous support of the Barnett and Jaffe families, the Annual Scholars’ Conference (ASC) has two endowed lectures, the Mitchell L. and Miriam Lewis Barnett Lecture and the Michael and Elaine Jaffe Lecture. Both are open to the public and held annually in conjunction with the ASC.
Mitchell L. and Miriam Lewis Barnett Lecture

“Carrying the Story Forward: Intergenerational Witnessing from Schindler’s List to the 21st Century”
Sunday, March 8 at 7 p.m.
This year’s Barnett Lecture is being presented by Tali Nates, founder and director of the Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre (a member of the South African Holocaust & Genocide Foundation), is a historian who lectured internationally on Holocaust education, genocide prevention, reconciliation and human rights.
Michael and Elaine Jaffe Lecture

“Series of Concentric Circles: The Holocaust in Global Context”
Sunday, March 8 at 9 a.m.
This year’s Jaffe Lecture is being presented by Dr. Mark Celinscak, who is the Louis and Frances Blumkin Professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies and the Executive Director of the Sam and Frances Fried Holocaust and Genocide Academy at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He is the author of the award-winning books, Kingdom of Night: Witnesses to the Holocaust and Distance from the Belsen Heap: Allied Forces and the Liberation of a Nazi Concentration Camp. He is also the co-editor of the recent volume, Global Approaches to the Holocaust: Memory, History, and Representation. He currently serves as co-chair of the Consortium of Higher Education Centers for Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Studies.
