Ackerman Center Podcast

The Ackerman Center Podcast was created in response to a need to connect in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Follow along to explore Holocaust-related topics during the time of our shared new virtual realities. Each episode of Season 2 will focus on a specific event of the early years of the Third Reich. Community Outreach

Dr. Pedro Gonzalez Corona, Visiting Assistant Professor

Dr. Gonzalez was invited by the charter high school, International Leadership of Texas, Campus Desoto, to talk to their 8th and 9th-grade students about the Holocaust and human rights.

Dr. Gonzalez was also asked by the Anne Frank Center in Guatemala to participate in a video-commemoration of the Holocaust victims. He lit a candle and gave remarks in Spanish during a video that was edited and presented on the 26th of January. The other 5 speakers for this commemoration include the Israeli ambassador in Guatemala and directors of key Latin American Museums of the Holocaust.

Dr. Sarah Valente, Visiting Assistant Professor

Dr. Valente was the inaugural speaker for the Seminario Comparativo Latinoamericano/ Antisemitism in Comparative Perspective Webinar Series hosted by the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy in New York, where I presented about “Antijudaismo Ibérico en el Brasil Colonial/ Iberic Anti-Judaism in Colonial Brazil” on 1 December 2020. Dr. Valente was also elected to participate in the Holocaust Education Foundation’s Syllabus Workshop – Gender, Race, and the Holocaust Virtual Workshop at Northwestern University from 10 September 2020 to 11 December 2020.
